A FILM BY Komtouch Napattaloong

Post-PRODUCTION GRANT - Fall 2020

In the outskirts of Bangkok, a young Sudanese family, who fled from their home country to seek refuge, lives among other Thais and migrant workers since 2013. In the years spent waiting, the children have managed to absorb the language and culture from local schools while their parents work to provide a normal life.

One day, the family receives news of their approval for resettlement in Canada, however, for one month before they depart Thailand, the parents must be detained at the Immigration Detention Center (IDC) as under Thai law, they are still considered illegal.

Wanting their children to be safe and away from IDC, the parents ask the filmmaker and friends to take care of their children at a shelter home for young refugees until they can be reunited at the airport. In this new environment with new people, the children come to realize the true reasons for why they must leave Thailand.
